The Rise And Fall O' Charlie
‘The Rise and Fall O’ Charlie’ is a musical study on the personage of Charles Edward Stuart and his ill fated attempt to wrest the crown of the U.K. from the Hanoverian line back to the Stuart dynasty. Alan and Rob have dipped into the wealth of material on Bonny Prince Charlie, interpreting well known and not so well known songs and tunes and with the help of some of the finest traditional musicians in Scotland. Countering this often romanticised image are some new songs written by Alan which touch on the flaws and weaknesses of this charismatic yet flawed personality, with the aim of providing a more nuanced and balanced portrait of an individual whose actions altered the course of Scotland’s and the United Kingdom’s history. Guests are WENDY, WEATHERBY, MAEVE MacKINNON, MIKE KATZ, SUSAN MILLER, IAN FAIRBAIRN and ALASDAIR WHITE Tracks are,
